Mystery of the Mothman | Unexplained Cases (2024)

Written by:  Rick Garner Case Filed: 2/19/24 Executive Producer:  Rick Garner   One of the cases we’ve always wanted to open is that of the Mothman. When it comes to urban legends, this guy takes the proverbial cake. He checks off all the boxes: cryptid, paranormal, interdimensional. And if not for this winged red-eyed creature, Point Pleasant, West Virginia might only be known for a tragic bridge collapse that occurred on December 15, 1967. The Silver Bridge collapsed during heavy rush-hour traffic, claiming 46 lives. Sightings of Mothman in 1966 and 67 linked the creature to the cause of the collapse, but an official investigation determined stress corrosion cracking in an eyebar led to the disaster. I had the chance to meet and speak with Steve Ward at the world famous Mothman Museum. On the subject of Mothman, Steve is an expert. Well, this is the world's only Mothman Museum. And it came about because of the sightings that took place back in the middle 60s. There...

The Haunted History of Kings Landing | Unexplained Cases (2024)

Written by:  Rick Garner Case Filed: 9/1/24 Executive Producer:  Rick Garner   In Calvert County, Maryland, along the shore of the Patuxent River, the 260-acre Kings Landing Park is a wonderful location to experience history and nature. Once an active farm and later a YMCA camp, kayakers, canoeists, fishman, nature lovers, and families enjoy Kings Landing Park for its access to the river, creeks, marshes, and hiking trails. Picnic areas are available for small and large groups, large pavilions require reservations, and an event hall is also available for rent. Captain John Smith - the English explorer who played an important role in the establishment of the colony at Jamestown, Virginia - explored the region between 1607 and 1609. Also, British warships chased the American fleet up the river during the War of 1812. History at Kings Landing Park is being experienced in other ways. Driving onto this peaceful and beautiful property, it's difficult to imagine it being a p...

Lady in Black at the Bunny Man Bridge | Unexplained Cases (2023)

Written by:  Rick Garner Case Filed: 6/19/23 Executive Producer:  Rick Garner   Urban legends. We love ‘em. They are the nightmare fuel of campfire and sleepover stories. Virginia happens to have an urban legend that many may have heard growing up. And many more have found online. The story goes that if you are at a bridge on Colchester Road in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Halloween at midnight, you’ll be murdered by the Bunnyman. The lore has the important pieces: a date, an asylum and the crashing of a transport bus. In 1904, an asylum stood not far from the bridge. The asylum closed and patients were being transported to a new location. The bus had an accident and all the inmates were accounted for…except for one. The escaped mental patient was named Douglas Griffon. After the crash, he disappeared. Weeks passed, and rabbit corpses began appearing in the woods. Douglas was apparently eating bunnies to stay alive. This went on for a while. On Halloween night at...
